Unlocking the physics of soft and active matter through experiments
Explore Ongoing ResearchWe investigate physical phenomena in soft and active matter through electro-optical measurements, microfluidics, advanced imaging, and image processing. Because soft matter phases rely on a delicate interplay among internal energy, thermal fluctuations, and entropy, even subtle external perturbations can trigger dramatic spatiotemporal changes. Active matter, a subset of soft matter, is composed of individual entities that consume energy locally to generate collective behaviour fundamentally distinct from their individual states. Our goal is to experimentally uncover the underlying mechanisms governing these transformations.
